Binance Halts Withdrawals Amid Multi-Billion-Dollar Hot Wallet Breach as Stablecoin Issuers Freeze Over $2.5 Billion
Binance has suspended deposits, withdrawals, and Alpha trading following a massive suspected security breach involving EIP-7702 wallet delegations on October 29, 2026. While on-chain estimates of total outflows vary between $1.7 billion and $5.7 billion, stablecoin issuers including Tether and Circle have already frozen more than $2.5 billion in transferred assets as the exchange pledges that user funds remain safe.
