Cloudflare Acquires Deno to Expand Workers Beyond Its Own Cloud
Cloudflare has acquired Deno, the developer tooling company created by Node.js creator Ryan Dahl, in a move to broaden the reach of its Workers serverless computing model. The transaction absorbs the Deno engineering team and integrates its self-hosting orchestration project, celld, into Cloudflare's open-source runtime. Following the buyout, Cloudflare is winding down both the standalone Deno runtime and the Deno Deploy cloud hosting service.
