Oklahoma Man Charged Over Powder-Filled Letters Sent to Lawmakers and Election Offices
Federal prosecutors have unsealed criminal charges against an Oklahoma City man accused of sending more than 700 envelopes containing suspicious white powder to lawmakers, election offices, and media outlets ahead of the 2024 and 2026 elections. Law enforcement officials determined the tested substances were harmless materials including flour and yeast, though the mailings triggered evacuations and heightened security nationwide. The suspect faces federal counts of conveying a hoax and mailing threatening communications as authorities continue testing hundreds of intercepted letters.
