Mistral Releases 1T Frontier Model to Challenge U.S. and Chinese AI Giants
Paris-based Mistral AI has launched Mistral Large 4, an open-weight frontier model boasting more than one trillion total parameters nicknamed Le Chonk. Trained on European hardware, the natively multimodal system targets critical sectors like cybersecurity and finance while attempting to blunt China and America's dominance over foundational artificial intelligence. The model is currently available through an API preview, with complete weights slated for release later this month following red-teaming with government and enterprise partners.
