UK Minimum Wage Equalization for Under-20s Under Doubt as Chancellor Refuses to Guarantee Timeline
The UK government is facing sharp criticism and accusations of backing down from a key 2024 election pledge after Chancellor John Healey declined to guarantee that minimum wage rates for younger workers would match adult levels before the next election. Trade unions have strongly condemned the shift, warning that young employees continue to bear the brunt of rising living costs and discriminatory pay gaps.
